“Lattice”

Nanaha Co., Ltd. is a company that sends the “new form of Japan” to the world through “mattcha”. They provide high quality mattcha in menus that are arranged modernly, such as mattacha latte. The space inside the shop is desired to be a “modern tearoom”, not a “Japanese style tea room”. According to the owner, it is a way of expressing their feeling to make a shop that allows the customers to enjoy the traditional Japanese culture with a modern interpretation.

The lattice is, a periodic divider, a partition, and since it has a decorative effect, it was also attached to the interior fittings such as a column, Shoji (a Japanese sliding door), a sliding door and the like.
In addition, the lattice has the effect of restricting intrusion from outside and visibility while securing lighting and ventilation inside.
In the past, at the Machiya, the shape of the lattice was classified by structure, form, and occupation.
Therefore, at the Shanghai Century Odori store, we create a new design lattice and propose a new lattice shape linking to the brand image of mattcha cafe.
In fact, I designed, that the entire space exists in the lattice, to be a pair of lattices in any direction.
