“Golden Tearoom and Silver Tearoom”

Nanaha Co., Ltd. is a company that sends the “new form of Japan” to the world through “mattcha”. They provide high quality mattcha in menus that are arranged modernly, such as mattacha latte. The space inside the shop is desired to be a “modern tearoom”, not a “Japanese style tea room”. According to the owner, it is a way of expressing their feeling to make a shop that allows the customers to enjoy the traditional Japanese culture with a modern interpretation.

Golden Tearoom was made by Hideyoshi Toyotomi in 1586, as its name suggests, used gold everywhere. It has been considered that it looks quite different from the tea philosophy of Sen no Rikyu like “Wabi-Sabi” because of its magnificence and having a disposition to show off his power. According to recent study, however, it is said that Sen no Rikyu has touched to supervise the golden tearoom.

In nana’s green tea FUJIMI I create “Golden Tearoom” and “Silver Tearoom” with modern materials.
Contemporary Golden Tearoom…Brass (It appeared in the history from the middle of 15th century to middle of 17th century but in Japan, belatedly, it came into use in the middle of Edo period like the famous currency “Kanei-Tsuho”.)
Contemporary Silver Tea room…Stainless Steel (It is an alloy discovered in England in the early 20th century and has a property in rust prevention owing to the addition of chromium to iron. Moreover, public concern about environmental issues is growing and nowadays it receives high evaluations because of its 100% recyclability.)
