“Rikyu Color”

Nanaha Corporation is a company that introduces “a new form of Japan” to the world through “matcha” (powdered green tea). They arrange high grade matchas in modern style and provide them as a menu such as matcha latte. And their intention is to make the space into a “contemporary style tea room”, not a “Japanese style tea room”.

Kimono: it cannot be discussed without the culture of the tea.
At a tea party people had to wear suitable dress.
Every time masters of the tea ceremony attended at tea party, first they understood which season was at that time and how tea party was and then thought about their own position and paid attention to the situation, after thinking these things finally they decided what to wear.

Tea party organized by Rikyu Senno, however, was a place of the composite art form so that clothes were a part of the art of tea as well.
They say that Rikyu liked greenish-brown, so now we call this color “Rikyu” which is one of the Japanese traditional colors.

In Marunouchi building shop we adopt an idea to liken whole space to clothes.
Suspended clothes, which we ask the craftsman who makes shop curtains in Kyoto to dye five colors, from the entire ceiling so that people can choose a seat as they like depending on their moods.
